Sustainability Basic Policy

DOWA Group will strike a balance between enhancement of corporate value and contribution to building a sustainable society by continuing to promote business activities that help to solve social issues in an effort to realize our corporate mission and vision.

UN Global Compact

The DOWA Group participated in the United Nations Global Compact, which is a strategic policy initiative for businesses that are committed to aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

The Global Compact is a voluntary corporate citizenship initiative proposed by UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 1999 at the World Economic Forum, and was officially established at UN in 2000. It is an approach to join in building a global framework for implementation of more sustainable development, which is considered that creative and responsible leadership of companies as a member of the society, will be led.

As a global company and a participant of the Global Compact, the DOWA Group certainly respects and implements the following 10 principles, through not only compliance but also global environmental practices such as CSR procurement and global warming measure, for sustainable development of society.

The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact

  • Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights
  • Ensure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
  • Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining
  • The elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labor
  • The effective abolition of child labor
  • The elimination of discrimination regarding employment and occupation
  • Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges
  • Undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility
  • Encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies
  • Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery
